5 Things To Know About @THEREALSWIZZZ

If you had the chance to meet or see Swizz Beatz this past weekend then you will attest to his humility and heightened spiritual connection with the people of South Africa. Apart from his love for our music, fashion and complete being, he is very open minded which makes him a perfect visitor if you ask me. We got to chat to him ahead of his appearance at the LIT #BacardiHolidayClub - I kid you not, IT WAS EPIC. We picked up a few things that we noted down for you. 

1. He's definitely done his 10 000 hours in the game

One of the ways to qualify an expert in a field is through them having done a "minimum" of 10 000 hours in their work and Swizz Beatz has been putting in work since age 17 having produced over 560 songs, selling 380 million records, and scooping multiple awards for his work. Now that is what we call a master of music right there!

2. The Battle Of The Beats happened 5 years after initial call

Last year we witnessed Swizzy go head-to-head with another prolific producer, Just Blaze, in Hot 97's Battle Of The Beats that went on for close to 3 hours. Now, you need to know that Swizz Beatz is very competitive and we saw that in the battle as well. Get this though, Just Blayze has been wanting to battle Swizz Beatz from as far back as 2012 but it only came together last year. Ps. We're also waiting on that battle between him and Timbaland sometime this year, now that's going to be a showdown!

3. Swizz Beatz had to live in "res" while studying

When asked why he decided to pursue a qualification (at Harvard) after the successful career he had, Swizz Beatz told us that he wanted to diversify himself beyond just music. He also told us that he had to stay in a dormitory (residence for us) in order to concentrate on his studies in a disciplined way. You see kids, res life is not that bad an idea after all. If Swizzy can go through it, so can we.

4. The Dean Collection was inspired by his children

We all know that Swizz Beatz is an art connoisseur. He's been collecting art for about 18 years now and when he started the Dean Collection a few years ago, he had the idea to build a museum for his children. Although he collects so much art, there are some that he never sells off and those are the pieces in the Dean Collection. This collection is also what inspired No Commission. Did you know that every piece he collects appreciates in value? Now that's a Midas eye. 

5. His follow up to One Man Band is due April 2018 

Last year Swizz Beatz announced the arrival of his sophomore album Poison which is expected to drop this year. He has revealed to us that it should be ready around April and will have epic moments on it. Although he wouldn't reveal any of the features on it, he has spoken about the album being straight hard-core and uncut. In Swizzy we trust!
