South African DJ and media personality Ms Cosmo has launched a new podcast series, ‘Self-Cav.’ The podcast, co-hosted with Thabang Makhubela and Sechaba Chephetsa, aims to explore themes of life, love, and personal development. Ms Cosmo announced the launch on Instagram, stating, “A new chapter for me and a new opportunity to express myself in new ways! ✨”
The ‘Self-Cav’ podcast is designed to provide a platform for candid conversations on various aspects of life. It features the hosts discussing topics ranging from relationships and self-development to cultural issues. The series aims to offer listeners insightful perspectives and foster personal growth through open dialogue.
Ms Cosmo has maintained a prominent presence in South Africa’s music and media landscape as a DJ, radio host, MC, producer and content creator. She became the first female DJ to join Channel O’s DJ music show The Bassment. In 2013, she began hosting the weekly hip‑hop show The Stir Up on 5FM, through which she has spotlighted local and international artists and contributed to the growth of hip-hop culture in South Africa.
She also used to be part of POPcast on Channel O with Scoop Makhathini, DJ Speedsta and DJ Vigilante, which was nominated for the DStv Content Creator Awards. The show was intended to explore the entertainment industry covering roles such as artist, A&R, management, and publicist and provide commentary on trends and developments within the industry.
Her embrace of podcasting through Self -Cav represents a deliberate and strategic evolution. The podcast brings Ms Cosmo together with Makhubela and Chephetsa to “unpack life, love and everything in between.” In its format, Self Cav focuses on themes such as faith, relationships, self‑development, and culture.
Where her DJing career connected with audiences through music, rhythm, and atmosphere, Self- Cav connects through thought, emotion and shared narratives. The visual element of the podcast allows audiences to see expressions, gestures, and sincerity, elements that deepen the resonance of discussions in ways that audio alone cannot. By bringing her voice from behind the decks into the realm of conversation, Ms Cosmo invites listeners into a more intimate space.
Her established influence as a DJ and radio personality gives Self -Cav a launchpad. Listeners who already trust her curation of sound may be more open to her curation of ideas and experiences.
In launching Self -Cav, Ms Cosmo reinforces her capacity to operate at the intersection of sound and substance. Through each weekly episode, the podcast sets to offer a space for listeners not only to listen, but to pause, reflect, confront, and connect.
