South African soulful-pop sensation Lloyiso has released his brand-new single Scary, the track serves as the lead single from his upcoming EP, Never Thought I Could.
Described by Lloyiso as the “perfect breakup song,” Scary captures the raw vulnerability of love, timing, and regret. Inspired by his own breakup, the song tells the story of a relationship lost to conflicting seasons — when his partner was ready to receive love, he was consumed by work and unable to give fully. Now that he is ready, she is no longer available. The haunting honesty of the song reflects the emotional depth and authenticity that fans have come to expect from Lloyiso.
Speaking on the single, Lloyiso shares: “Scary is my honest admission that I wasn’t emotionally ready to give my whole heart, even though I physically wanted to. It’s a breakup with my past love, my old self, and my old ways—a reminder that love alone isn’t enough. You need time and self-awareness to truly love yourself before you can love someone else, and to be strong enough to say, ‘It was never about them—it was always about me’.”
