Cassper Nyovest has teamed up with SAMA Award-winning R&B sensation lordkez on the sizzling new “Aweh Remix,” a single and music video that’s already capturing the season’s attention. Released just five days ago, the remix has racked up over 280,000 views, quickly establishing itself as one of the summer’s most talked-about collaborations.
The “Aweh Remix” is more than a catchy tune — it’s a celebration of South African language, culture, and identity. lordkez weaves soulful melodies with rich storytelling, grounding the song in authenticity through colloquial phrases. Lines like “Dala What You Must” — a phrase commonly used in the coloured community meaning “do what you have to” — invite fans to connect deeply with her artistry.
Cassper Nyovest brings his signature Setswana flow to the remix, grounding the track in cultural tradition and romance. His verse, “Really wanna make you my wife sab’ serious, sab’ serious (Eish). Lak’sina malume, kopa ho gafa lobola ya five stina,” is a heartfelt declaration of commitment, referencing the African practice of lobola — giving a bride price — and adding a layer of cultural depth to the track.
The collaboration came about in an unexpected yet seamless way. “The song was already picking up traction when Cassper reached out on TikTok after seeing clips of the video,” explains lordkez. “He congratulated me and asked if he could be on a remix. Working with him and his team has been amazing.”
For the first time, lordkez experiments with isiZulu, tenderly singing in the chorus, “Ngithi ngihamba nawe” (“I’m leaving with you”), a moment of vulnerability and devotion that highlights her fearless creativity. Despite recording continents apart — lordkez in Paris and Cassper in South Africa — the remix came together naturally. “I was walking through Paris while watching him lay down his verse live on Twitch. It was surreal!” she recalls.
Maintaining the heart of the original track was crucial. “I didn’t want to change too much. Cassper brought his own energy while staying true to what the song is about,” lordkez says. With its smooth production, soulful lyrics, and Cassper’s effortless verse, the “Aweh Remix” is poised to dominate playlists and become the soundtrack of the summer.
