247HE MONEY (Two For The Money) is the debut offering from RAP LYF duo T.L.T. which follows up their single Chankura which has been making some good waves since it dropped. The K1 princes Phethego Makanyane, aka L-Tech and Vusi Rantlha, aka Trouble are about to prove to us that their acronym which stands for timeless talent ain't for play-play.
The 20-track mixtape journals the group's life in the hood and details the scars that have formed their approach to rap music in their quest for acclaim, true love and legal tender. The sound is uniquely South African but their approach to storytelling resonates with many a story of growing up in poverty juxtaposed with their audacious ambition to free themselves from its grips by making it in the dog-eat-dog rap world. What comes across almost as strongly as their brazen proclamation of "money makes the girls go down" is the painful yet ever present point to prove to the families who they want to save from poverty by doing something no-one at home believes in, dreaming... Produced entirely by Makwa 6eats, another Rap Lyf signee, the project is a musical work of art and a true reflection of the essence of homegrown ghetto fabulous-ness! Who can't relate?
