Mercia Tucker, aka Miss Mercia, is back with a new podcast titled, Notes & Noise. The podcast got its name by Mercia trying to make sense of everything about South African hip-hop and its related industries while trying to tune out the “noise” that often follows the entertainment industry. A play on words by the writer should come as no surprise. On her first episode, Mercia is joined by Sabelo Mikhabela and Tsiliso Monaheng. Both guests are skilled and celebrated in the respective fields, although they remain united in their passion for hip-hop and the South African legacy thereof.
The trio discusses their favorite and most underwhelming debut album and album releases. Honorable mentions include Sho Madjozi’s Limpopo Champion League, Sjava’s Umqhele, and Shane Eagle’s Never Grow Up. They don’t just stop there though, even Moozlie’s tumultuous campaign for VW South Africa came under fire between Mercia, Sabelo, and Tsiliso. However, it’s no use to change how people are going to listen, but rather get them to hear for themselves.
