While many people still try to deal with the passing of rap icon, PRO, tribute messages continue to pour out as people celebrate his life through the music he made. Two of those people being Proverb and Lee Kasumba who went on radio to pay their respects, reflect on their time with PRO, as well as reminisce on his impact in the South African music industry. They spoke to Bridgette Masinga on the B-Side, on Kaya FM.
"The one thing that stood out; his talent, yes, what he did in terms of changing the face of hip hop, yes, ...the fact that he raised an entire generation with his music, yes. But more than that, PRO was genuinely one of the nicest people," said Lee. The media personality also mentioned some of her memorable moments with the rapper and the kind of person he was.
Proverb, who at one point found himself battling it out with PRO, reminisced on the mutual respect they had for each other as well as their competitive nature. "It's only in hindsight that I'm grateful for those moments. At the time I was kind of going through the motions but I didn't realise that I was getting a friend or brother in the business, hence I feel like I've lost a friend."
