Public Service Announcement: @AkaWorldWide Says You Must Now Address Him As The King Of Pop

By @SkinnyGenesTV on 03/13/2016 in

AKA is getting ready to release his album sometime in 2016. There is no official date nor is the name of the album known. But what everyone knows is AKA’s brand new single titled “One Time”. The single is not yet available for download or via purchasing on iTunes. It was performed for the first time on Live Amp last week Friday and judging from the responses on social media people actually loved the new song by AKA. After the performance AKA thanked his crew for being involved in making the perfromance come alive. He also thanked Live-AMP for allowing him to be creative. But to silence the critics and set the tone for the type of music that he will be making AKA had the following to say via Twitter.

”I hereby renounce my title as Prince of SA Hip Hop. You now address me as The King of Pop. I no longer want to be confined by the boundaries and expectations that come with being labelled “Rap” or Hip Hop”. Pop stands for popular music and that is what I make”.

If you read carefully between the lines it seems AKA is going to continue making songs like Baddest and All Eyes On Me because he says he is a pop star and not a hip hop star. This was also confirmed during his one on one interview with Bonang where he revelaed that he can’t be making music that is obvious. He said “There are guys like Emtee and Nasty C doing the trap sound and as a leader I needs to introduce a new sound and move the genre. It’s something I take seriously”. Seems like AKA has it all figured out.

Whats your take?
