Projects You Should Hear: @FlexBoogie - #PWRS EP

By @Spokenpriestess on 02/27/2017 in

Now this is one person you can never box into any one genre, space or category of artistry. Apart from his undying love for Black people, Flex Boogie has blossomed into a truth whisperer through his work with Because Black - a foundation, lifestyle and state of mind that stands for Black pride and celebration.

Consequently, his PWRS EP is just as colourful as what he has dedicated his time to in the recent years. He opens with a singing dedication called Bontle Ba Me (My Beauty) and grooves into a celebration of his people with Kabomo and B Melo. He swings back into singing again on PULA. He's sounding very jazz influenced on this piece which transcends his "rapper" by a stretch. But it's not all blues in here, we swing back into the raps with the Big Star Johnson and PdotO assisted joints Welele, as well as On Road. I guess in the end music is the expression of one's soul and at this point in time Flex Boogie is whatever he wants to be beyond bars.

Keep an open mind and stream it over here:
