The homie Uno July hit me up with his live set from Red Bull Studios. Having formed one half of the hip hop duo Ill Skillz for more than a decade, 2015 saw Uno July step onto stage as a solo act. With a sound that references the golden era of hip hop while at the same time exploring more left-field and avant garde textures that results in a fusion of the old with the new. In this performance he drops favourites from his 2015 EP Best Kept Secret as well as his 2016 mixtape Uno ‘n Only.
Featuring tracks like the nostalgic "90’s Laaitie”, his version of Youngsta’s sneaker tribute JFK and the high-energy of Native Yards 57 featuring Youngsta named after the street he grew up in. With relentless energy throughout, Uno July delivers his fast-paced rhymes without missing a beat.
