On The Ground Videos Dropped Last Week @YoungstaCpt @DJReadyD

By @SkinnyGenesTV on 01/21/2017 in

Last week's On The Ground videos have a special place in my heart. Besides shooting these videos and being on the ground in Cape Town, I really learnt something special when I spoke to Youngsta and DJ Ready D. It is also very fitting that this week's on The Ground Videos have two of the most important people repping Cape Town hip hop. One of the guys is an OG and the other is a pioneer in his own right.

So let me tell you why these videos touched me.

Firstly, DJ Ready D taught me something about culture. In the video he spoke about the unity that we need to have in our culture and that our greatest demise will be factionalism in the game. How deep is that?

But the most special moment came when Youngsta was talking about being Cape Town's spoke person and why he will keep pushing because the City needs a spokeperson. What you also did not see in the video is a special shoutout that Youngsta gave me. He said, "Skinny has been with me since the start shooting videos. His raw style is not that fake sh! that you see out here on these streets". I don't want to make this about me but Youngtsa reminded me why it is important to be authentic in your approach and to have your own style. That is my advice to you. Do you and keep doing you.

Peep the videos after the jump.
