In his latest Jon J-directed music video for Simple Things, we see Musiq Soulchild as he's facing difficulties of trying to please a materialistic partner who fails to appreciate his efforts.
The couple go around town shopping and Soulchild balls out on his girl but she doesn't recognise. She's not moved and keeps pushing for more, this results in an argument as the couple fight over what I believe is the fact that baby girl is a brat. The lyrics, "I don't need no fortune, you can keep the fame. Just give me a real good woman, that is enough for me..." explain just what Musiq wants but can't seem to get. The video juxtaposes the lavish life with a simple one where the focus is placed on appreciating every little thing around you.
