Maino takes it upon himself to be a mouthpiece for the sad case of the late Kalief Browder who was wrongfully charged and imprisoned without a trial for allegedly stealing a backpack back in 2010. We hear his voice in the opening of the track before Maino channels himself as his voice. As the song closes we hear voices of his mother speaking to a journalist about his progress post release, till the news of his suicide ends the reflection.
Man, this is sad. Kudos to Maino for being so articulate in his execution of this life story. The story of many a complicated lives of young black men in the American justice system. R.I.P to Kalief, I hope he finds peace wherever he is.
