This is the kind of hip hop I fiend off to be honest. That "get up and fight", conscious, self reflective rap is my haven. J. Period is mobilising for his EP RISE UP and he decides to share with us what I presume to be the title track as a prelude featuring heavy weights Black Thought, Posdnuos, Pharoahe Monch and Joss Stone on vocals.
The song features some historic speeches by J.F Kennedy and M.L King Jr. as the song rolls on in fire. J. Period says the song was inspired by the same spirit that these speeches embody. I can tell you one thing, he nailed the collaboration. No emcees better that the chosen to bleed the way they bleed truth in the most eloquent of rhyme on here. This is blessed music.
