Onlifer's Review: @mhm_xx - Six Paths Of Sauce By @Freed_Davids

By @Spokenpriestess on 07/20/2017 in

The 10 record body of work kicks off with a winsome dance music influenced song titled Tropicana. On the song MHM I compares his relationship to the late Bonnie and Clyde's - a couple which lived and died together, a real ride or die couple.

The next two songs Freedom part 1 and 2, have good catchy hooks and short verses. Due to the singing kind of rap style adopted here, the songs sound like they're hooks throughout. Not entirely ideal for Hip Hop records but hey we don't play by the rules anymore as long as it's sounding nice, we good. The less raps and more singing approach prevail throughout the project.

On Bad Gal he talks about a girl who finds herself having no other way to make a living than selling her body. She's caught up in the whole situation, she loves the life that she's living but the cost of getting it is hard. She feels like escaping but she's already used to this life so it's difficult to let go.

On Desire the rapper goes through self-introspection. He asks himself on the chorus, “was it love or desire/” but it’s apparent through the lyrics of the song that it was deeper than desire. The rapper was in love and was willing to do anything for this girl. This is kind of a continuation of the opening track Tropicana, where the rapper talked of the great ride or die relationship that he is in.

He wraps up the tape in the similar fashion that he started it in, singing about love over a vibrant and engaging dance music beat with a song titled Come My Way featuring TNS. This is one of the only two songs with features on this project and it was pretty much worth it. TNS comes in with beautiful vocals on the hook and complements MHM I’s singing and rapping verses quite well. Dope record.

As a debut project this is alright. It sounds like the rapper is still trying to find his sound and he is currently on the right path.
