As an avid music lover, I was really excited for The Cape Town Electronic Music Festival which was home to some of the best in local, international electronic and urban music this past weekend at the historical City Hall.

Livity Africa in association with the British Council and Redbull hosted some very informative and entertaining workshops throughout the week to expose young creatives and disadvantaged youth to the business and creativity of media and production.

Over the sold out weekend, the festival hosted DJ legends like Vinny Da Vinci, Nightmares on Wax, Kenzero, Goldie, Uppercut, Real Rozzano and more on the decks. Hiphop lovers and other alternative audiences enjoyed some memorable live acts as well in the likes of Petit Noir, Driemanskap, Sibot& Toyota, Angel- Ho and Dope Saint Jude to name a few. There was a bit of everything for music lovers as the three stages included the best in dance, electro, house, trap, dubstep, drum and bass and even reggae with Crosby and Friends.

Also the festival featured an interactive music room where audiences could check out the latest in music software and technology and have live tutorials from some of the best deejays and producers in the industry.

A very safe and well-coordinated epic event, young and old of all circles of life united under one grand space. This was one memorable musical extravaganza in certainly one of Africa’s finest cities.
