This time last year a mixtape called "Price City' was dropped by a then young MC who was unknown and had no idea he would be dropping a mixtape that would earn him hip hop status and appreciation in SA Hip Hop in late 2015. Moreover this young MC would have no idea that he would be loved by SA Hip Hop x go on to feature on some career defining records & holding his own with the continents best.
Nasty C is that artist and his trajectory in SA Hip Hop is something to marvel at. You see Price City is not just a tape it's the story of a young MC who waited his turn and he is benefiting from the waiting. The crazy part is that he is 18 years old x produces, writes, creates his own music. And they say the age of the bedroom MC is no longer huh?
Fast forward to 2016 Nasty C has re-released Price City but for more personal reasons. The tape will officially drop today on the birthday of his late mother and this is who he dedicates his tape to. The tape has four new tracks that have been added. These tracks are Friend Zone x Bam Bam x Cool Niggas x My Niggas

It is very scary if you think about the amount of tracks that Nasty C has been dropping lately. He has dropped a record every week since the year has started. But I feel that "price City" has a new tone x new meaning to him now. Nasty C is returning to the one project that he made when no one knew him x nobody would give a 17 year old kid in Durban a shot. Dropping "Price City" on his late mothers birthday tells you the kind of artist that Nasty C is in that everything is expressed through the music for him.
*Editors Note: When Nasty C's team hit me up on Monday wanting to publish this story I got touched for a moment there. I remember we were running UnderdogDay this time last year and a then young Kid was harassing our Twitter handle and had created a #NastyCForUnderDog. I eventually gave in and he made underdogday and would then go to do the things he is doing now. I listened to Price City this time last year a lot of times and I knew this kid has what it takes based on the delivery x flow x confidence he oozes on each record. The one thing Nasty C has got going going for him is his artistry. He loves making music and everything about him is musical.
What am I trying to say: Platforms like these help people who want to help themselves. One day I will meet Nasty C and my one question will be how he never chose to take shortcuts and what he thinks his late mom would say about the person he has become by chasing his passion and making music from the heart.
