5 Things We Learned From The #RocNationBrunch @RocNation

By @SkinnyGenesTV on 02/13/2017 in

This past weekend Roc Nation hosted a pre-Grammy Awards brunch for their artists and friends within the industry. Our social media feeds were lit with images of black excellence being paraded for the world to see. We spotted Jay Z, Diddy, Rihanna and others living their best life. But the real win here is the unity that exists in Black American Urban Culture. It was amazing seeing the smiles on the faces of people who are heavily influential in American culture come together to celebrate each other's wins.

Im sure Biggie saw this from the clouds and rapped Juicie one more time for this moment, I mean really who thought that hip hop would take it this far. The hip hop culture is not only music but a cult that stopped social media and in my opinion this Roc Nation moment overshadowed the grammies.

So here are the 5 things that we learned from the Roc Nation Brunch minus Kanye not being there:

1. Mutual respect between Jay Z and Diddy

I would sell my left toe to hear the conversation that Jay and Diddy were cooking in the kitchen. The two biggest moguls in hip hop shared the same air. There was a time where they were younger they'd be competitive but as you move up the ranks you realise that there aren't enough people you can speak to that will relate to you, match you bank account or even have as much swag.Shout out to the suit game.

2. Rihanna knows where her bread is buttered

alt

Its important to note the positive light that this picture puts on Jayz entrepreneurship. Men in the industry are always setup as cheaters whenever they help a female counterpart and as you know there was once a rumour that Jayz and Rihanna were having an affair. Jayz helped Rihanna grow her career when he was president at Def Jam plus she's also part of Roc Nation. From Def Jam to Roc Nation the relationship has been there, when Jayz took over Def Jam Rihanna thrived, when she joined Roc Nation she just continued soaring to higher heights. Wouldn't be interesting to hear what Rihanna would say to Jayz regarding what he has done for her career?

3. Squaaaaaaad Goals

alt

You're going to have to excuse me for not listing all the artists and celebrities that attended the brunch. Basically everyone who has Jay Z affiliations was there. The win here is that even though each artist has their own lane they were there to celebrate and be squad deep. Even Jaden was there flaunting his wizardry. Oh, and I was so happy to see Jim Jones aka Capo also in the cut. He is part of Roc Nation so it must have been his chaining day of sorts. I also spotted Russel Simmons in the cut. Think about it. Rus has his own lane yet he was here with the squad. This just gives me chills hey.

4. Africa was represented

alt

Tiwa Savage was also spotted at the Roc Nation brunch. It was so dope to see her rub shoulders with some of the big players in the rap world. Africa is on the map and we are catching the eyes of guys like Jay Z and Diddy. Its important to shoutout the brothers and sisters in Nigeria that are always pushing the Arican flag on our behalf.

5. Black America

I don't want to bring in politics to this piece but I am going to do it anyway. With the current tension in America, gatherings like these prove that when Black people stand together nothing can tear us apart. I am going to leave it there because this is a subliminal celebration of black culture... Now when are South African artists getting together/

Amandla...
