5 Things To Know About @MrCashtime Right Now

By @Spokenpriestess on 07/31/2017 in

We got a chance to sit down with the Skhanda god, K.O last week and in our chats with him we picked up a few updates that we'd like to highlight for you. This especially since he went on a minor hiatus to refresh himself and find a new direction to go in with his newest music path.

1. He hates contracts

This may come as a surprise given that he just recently signed to Sony Music, but he explained that he hates how contracts can force people to remain in situations they otherwise would rather not be in. Case and point, Cashtime Life was a non-contract partnership with all the artists under the stable. Wow! That said, I hope his contract with Sony is a flexible one to suit his preferences.

2. He, Ma-E and Thabiso Khati are still owners in Cashtime Life

You may, or may not, have heard this reiteration by Ma-E and even himself on some occasions. Think about it like this, you create a big brand that has a wide catalogue to its name, a few years later the brand "fades away", are you going to erase it from existence just because? No. Precisely. Technically, Cashtime Life is still alive, it's just not operational at present. K.O says they might just mess around and do a reunion some many years down the line. I'm sitting next to my calendar counting down the years...

3. He's got a new single dropping end of August

He just came out with No Feelings, the introduction of a new day for him. But No Feelings is more like a street joint whereas the new single coming out end of next month is more of a "summer jam" to kick off the festive season.

4. His album is due in September

Just in time for the summer road trips and right within many award ceremony deadline brackets. He sat out of many industry events this year and on purpose as he said he was gonna make a strong come back and so by next year this time, we'll track back to this conversation when the Skhanda god is flying in top form again.

5. He's not an "a$$hole"

We'll forgive a lot of you for mistaking him for someone who's inapproachable (he's actually a recluse) and selfish, especially because of the judgements passed on him due to Cashtime Life falling out. However, K.O comes from an era where artists and pretty much everyone else in the game lent a hand in pushing the next man. Despite everything, he eventually will be signing new artists again under his Skhanda Republic banner in the future. His album is also 90 % produced by young producers from Playground Productions (Yung Swiss' label). I mean, he signed to a major label which majorly operates on massive teamwork to get things done.

We wish him luck with the new music and we can't wait for that announcement on the album name and arrival date!
